Whether you regularly work from home or only occasionally do so, you want to make sure that you have the best home office you can. Here are 7 tips to quickly upgrade your home office so you can get back to being productive.
1. Add more light
One of the best things you can do for your home office is to add more light. Most corporate office workers are used to having plenty of overhead light from large floursecent bulbs. That’s not the case in most home offices so it is important to add as much light as possible to make your body feel more awake. This will help with your productivity. There are a few ways to get more light into your home office.
Move your desk to be by a sunny window
One of the easiest ways to get more light is to simply change locations. If your home office has several windows, try moving your desk closer to the sunniest window and see how your mood and productivity are affected.
Get a new desk lamp
ANother easy option is to get a desk lamp that provides suffiencient light. We recommend a desk lamp which has multiple brightness settings so you can adjust it depending on how much natural light you are getting. At night, you can also turn up the brightness.
Install new windows or a skylight
Certainly not as easy as the above two options, getting new windows or a skylight will certainly increase the amount of light in your home office. It will take significant time and money however so this should only be an option if your home office is in a dark corner of your home.
2. Quickly convert to a standing desk
Standing desks have a lot of great health benefits including reduced weight gain and less back pain. They’ve even shown signs of lowering the risk of heart disease. If you’re used to a standing desk at your usual office or you just want to try it, then there are two great ways to get one. You can either convert an existing desk into a standing desk using a standing desk converter or buy a standing desk. Both are great options, but it depends on how much space you have and how much you’re willing to spend.
If you get tired of standing and don’t want to keep adjusting your chair or moving it away, a standing desk chair might be a great choice.
4. Make it ergonomic
Feeling comfortable in your home office is important and making your desk ergonomic is one step to doing so. To make your desk ergonomic, follow the guidelines in this video to make sure your set up is as optimal as possible.
As mentioned in the video, there are several ways to adjust your desk chair, your keyboard, and your monitor to provide optimal economics. If you need to raise your monitor, try geting a monitor stand. An ergonomic footrest makes sitting more comfortable if you aren’t able to reach the floor while sitting in your desk chair.
5. Get a comfy desk chair

7. Hang a whiteboard
