Tiramisu

From special occasions to lazy Sunday evenings, Tiramisu is a popular dessert that starts with T, and for one good reason – anyone can make one!

You just layer coffee-soaked ladyfingers with a smooth mascarpone cream, refrigerate for a couple of hours, then dust with cocoa powder before serving, and you are done.

Trifle

On the hunt for another low-effort but highly Instagrammable dessert? You should definitely try making a trifle! Hailing from England, this dessert is essentially layers of sponge cake, custard or pudding, cream, and fruit. And, yes, you can top it off with whipped cream.

Tip: Assemble the ingredients in a large glass bowl. This way, you can have this dessert as your centerpiece, too!

Turkish Delight

If you have ever scrolled through Instagram, you probably saw a video of a red, stretchy, square-shaped treat covered in powdered sugar. Well, that’s Turkish delight!

Turkish delight, also called lokum, is a soft, chewy candy often flavored with nuts, citrus, or rosewater. It is typically paired with tea or coffee, and believe it or not, it has been around for centuries.

If you plan to make one at home,  it needs a lot of stirring, or else, you will burn it or end up with unappetizing lumps.

Tapioca Pudding

Tapioca pudding is another effortless dessert to make. Plus, you can find its ingredients at your nearest grocery store. All you need are tapioca pearls, milk, vanilla, eggs, cream, sugar, and a dash of salt. For a variation, you can add fruit, chocolate, cinnamon, or coconut milk.

Toffee

Another simple treat you can make at home is toffee, which is essentially a hardened caramel. So, are toffee and caramel the same? Not quiet. Toffee is hard and crisp, while caramel is chewy. The latter also uses heavy cream.

The ingredients include brown sugar, butter, and salt. Some people add almonds for extra crunch and chocolate for extra creaminess. To make this sweet treat:

  1. Melt sugar, butter, and salt
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil
  3. Pour it onto a baking sheet
  4. (Optional) Sprinkle with chocolate or almonds
  5. Let it cool in the refrigerator.
  6. The last step? Break it into pieces.

Truffles

If you are a huge ganache fan, you should make truffles. This dessert is made by combining chopped chocolate with hot cream to form a ganache, then adding vanilla or other flavorings.

Once chilled, the ganache is rolled and coated in cocoa powder, nuts, or sprinkles.

Fun Fact: Bonbons and truffles are not the same! Bonbons have a hardened shell and are filled with layers of caramel, fruit, and chocolate. On the other hand, truffles have a ganache center and cocoa powder coating.

Tres Leches Cake

Tres leches cake is an ultra-light sponge cake soaked in not one but three types of milk: evaporated, condensed, and heavy cream. It’s often flavored with vanilla, topped with whipped cream or meringue, and sprinkled with cinnamon.

Fun Fact: When you translate ‘tres leches’ in English, it means ‘three milk.’

Tart

Another delicious dessert that begins with the letter T is tart. It is known for its crisp crust and bold fillings, ranging from fruit and custard to rich chocolate.

Fun Fact: Tart and pie are not the same! Tarts have shorter, straight sides, whereas pies are deeper and have thin, slightly sloped sides.

Tin Roof Pie

Speaking of pies, have you tried a tin roof pie? If you haven’t, you should add it to your must-try dessert list. Why? Well, this dessert brings together chocolate, caramel, and salted peanuts for a bold and irresistible sweet-and-salty combo.

Torta Caprese

Don’t have flour in your cupboard? That’s okay! You can still make torta caprese, a delicious flourless chocolate cake —you read that right. This decadent dessert doesn’t use flour, making it naturally gluten-free.

A fortunate baking error led to the creation of this dense, incredibly moist cake. The ingredients you need are dark chocolate, butter, baking powder, eggs, and ground almonds.

Thin Mint Cookies

If you grew up with Girl Scout Cookies, thin mints probably hold a special spot in your snack drawer. These crisp chocolate cookies coated in minty chocolate have been delighting cookie fans since 1939, when they first appeared as “Cooky-Mints.”

Teacake

Teacake, a sweet bun dating back to 1840 in Britain, pairs perfectly with afternoon tea. In the US, it became a Southern favorite at gatherings and special occasions. Modern versions feature layers of cake, buttercream, and chocolate for added celebration.

Tuiles

Tuile, a classic French treat, is a thin, delicate cookie that almost melts the moment you bite into it. It is made from a simple mix of flour, sugar, butter, and egg whites. While warm, you can mold it into different shapes, ranging from tubes and bowls to flowers.
