Words Related to Flowers

Flowers symbolize love, beauty, and passion. You use flowers to mark special occasions like anniversaries and Valentine’s Day. And when you see them in the spring, they represent a rebirth and a new beginning. In this article, you’ll find several words related to flowers.

Aster

The vibrant aster is known for its ability to withstand colder temperatures. This tiny, daisy-like flower also lags behind some of its peers because it pollinates in the late summer and into early fall. Aster comes in blue, pink, purple, red, and white.

Bouquet

If you don’t just want one flower, how about a bouquet of flowers? It’s a diverse collage of flowers arranged into a bundle and used as a gift for a special occasion. The most popular time of year for a bouquet is Valentine’s Day.

Violet

If insects ever needed a landing pad for pollination, a Violet is the answer. This rich, vigorous blossom comes mainly in deep purple. However, some color variations include blue or white.

Petals

Any flower vocabulary wouldn’t be complete without the parts of a bloom. Petals are known for their ornate qualities, such as shape and color. But don’t be surprised if petals aren’t actually petals but leaves with pigment produced by carotenoids.

Blossom

If you’ve ever seen a flower grow, you’ve watched it blossom. Blossom is one of those words related to flowers that can be a noun or a verb.

Lillies

If you’ve ever noticed a set of bulbous blooms in your garden, you probably have Lillies. These special blossoms have long, pointed petals that curve outward. In religious paintings, these blooms symbolize rebirth and fertility.

Flourish

A favorable environment allows your flowers to flourish. In general, all you need is a good climate and rich soil. However, it’s important to keep your garden thriving. Set some time aside each week to yank up those weeds and clear out loose debris.

Arrangement

An arrangement may look like a bouquet, but it isn’t. With a bouquet, you simply wrap the flowers in a vibrant colored paper and give them as a gift. An arrangement is also a gift with flowers of many types. The only difference is that you use a vase to put them in.

Wilt

Nothing’s sadder than seeing a beautiful flower wilt and die. Unless you take care of your blooms, that’s what will going to happen. Flowers wilt when they don’t get enough sunlight or water. The problem is common with indoor plants, so the best place to grow your garden is outside.

Delicate

If you’ve ever been told you’re delicate as a flower, chances are someone thought you were much too sensitive. Maybe you were told you got your feelings hurt too easily, or you allowed everything to get under your skin. But keep in mind that flowers are also very delicate because they, too, are easily hurt.

Vibrant

Vibrant describes something full of life, color, and energy. Flowers come in several vibrant colors that add beauty to your surroundings.

Roses

The old paradigm of “Roses are red, violets are blue” is not always true. Have you ever seen a white rose? How about burgundy, purple, pink, or orange? Believe it or not, there are more colors than the classic red.
