Solace
Like most people, you likely crave comfort, particularly during times of sadness or disappointment, and you likely feel most comfortable when surrounded by your closest family and friends. In other words, you take solace in what makes you feel good! Finding relief in healing words and activities that offer support and connection when you are not at your best is a valuable way to ease depression, anxiety, and grief.
Recovery
If you’ve ever had to rehabilitate after an injury, you’ll understand that recovery is about returning to a state of well-being. Without recovery, it’s often impossible to move forward. This is why it is critical to take the time you need to heal and refine your behaviors and actions. When dealing with someone in distress, it’s important to remember the power healing words have in defining personal identity. Set the tone with the language and delivery you choose when dealing with those in a reset period.
Holistic
The healing process is not segmented. When you work on yourself and the challenges you face, it’s important to consider the totality of your circumstances. Holistic approaches to healing take into account all aspects of a situation, which can range from nutritional to environmental and psychological.
For example, when someone is in recovery from a mental health disorder or substance use, therapists and medical professionals will typically ask about all aspects of an individual’s circumstances to best determine the way forward.
Remember, life’s challenges are not black and white. In fact, it’s often in gray areas where you learn the most valuable lessons that allow you to move forward.
Revitalization
When it comes to healing, revitalization is a close cousin of recovery. While recovery is often about returning to a state of normalcy, revitalization is mainly about how you bring newfound strength and life to healing.
Take the process of returning home after serving in the military, for example. If you were returning from a state of conflict or war, it would make sense that the first phase of your healing process would include an initial state of recovery. This may be followed by a period of revitalization focused on self-reinvention and discovery.
Remember, starting anew is an exciting part of the healing process, and the word revitalization is imbued with a sense of excitement and hope. This can motivate others to start anew.
Therapeutic
If you’re an animal lover, you likely find being around pets to be quite therapeutic. But there are other ways to heal hurt. You have art and music therapy, as well as holistic treatments like acupuncture and reiki.
However, sharing your experiences with others is often the most therapeutic thing you can do.
Self-Care
Self-care comes in many forms. It can be a physical action like taking a bath or lighting a candle to relax. It also has much to do with the stories we tell ourselves to survive. The kinder you are to yourself, the better you can manage stress.
Empowerment
Feelings are not facts. If you’ve ever had a coach or a mentor, you’ll understand the power of motivational speech. When you empower someone, you give them the ability to reframe their circumstances, and change is possible.
Inner Peace
Like solace, inner peace can be spiritual. It comes from within, and it’s important to use sensitive language with those struggling with restlessness and dissatisfaction. Meditation, self-care, and even breathwork can help you achieve this state of well-being.
