Today Grammarly announced that they launched Tone AI, a new feature that offers tone-rewriting suggestions to make you sound more confident, personable, and positive.

Tone AI improves on Grammarly’s previous tone technology which has been around since 2020 and shows an emoji corresponding to how your text sounded. The rewrite suggestions makes Grammarly even more of a direct competitor to AI content rewriting tool QuillBot.
This new feature is currently available to Grammarly Premium users and will soon be available to Grammarly Business and Grammarly for Education users as well.

About Tone AI
According to a recent survey by Grammarly, 93% of professional struggle with using the right tone in their communications. While video and in-person meetings make it easy to understand the tone of voice that accompanies the words used, text-based communication methods, such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and email don’t offer this luxury. Remote work over the last few years has compounded the problem of misunderstanding tone since most work is now done asynchronously instead of in meetings.
Grammarly’s new tone feature aims to solve this problem by offering rewrite suggestions to make your writing sound more positive, confident, and personable. The Business Wire release expands on these as follows:
- Positive reframing: Keep interactions constructive and focused on the solution—rather than the problem—to quickly resolve challenges with empathy.
- Confident: Sound self-assured and persuasive to achieve internal consensus and stakeholder alignment on ideas and plans.
- Personable: Rewrite sentences that seem stiff or impersonal to build and strengthen relationships with ease at work and at home.
According to Grammarly’s marketing materials, this should help you strengthen relationships with thoughtful communication, feel confident your message will be well-received, and come across as confident and professional.
Tone rewrite is available for Grammarly Premium users today and will begin rolling out in Grammarly Business and Grammarly for Education. Get 20% off Grammarly Premium here.
