Alt Codes for Windows
How Do You Use Alt Codes?
Using alt codes is simple. On a Windows computer, hold down the left Alt key while typing the number codes in the table above on the number pad.
What Are Alt Codes?
Alt codes are a method of typing special characters on Windows computers by using the keyboard’s numeric keypad. To use an Alt code, you hold down the Alt key and then type a specific number on the numeric keypad. When you release the Alt key, the corresponding special character appears. This method is especially useful for typing characters that are not readily available on the keyboard, like foreign letters, symbols, and various mathematical signs.
Here are some common Alt codes for Windows:

Remember, these codes are based on the Windows-1252 or similar code pages, and they may not work correctly if your computer uses a different character set. Additionally, the numeric values must be entered using the numeric keypad, not the row of numbers at the top of the keyboard. If you’re using a laptop without a numeric keypad, you might need to enable the “Num Lock” feature or use an alternative method to type these characters.
